Highly recommended! We've only ever stayed in the standard suite, so I can't comment on the other room types, but our experience has always been perfect. The accommodations are well-designed and very comfortable. The kicthenettes are fully-equipped. Kivanc, who is the very cool, easygoing, and knowledgeable owner, showed us the new location under construction which looks beautiful (I think there are currently four locations so I guess this will be the fifth). I don't think there's anyplace in Istanbul that can match Sultanahmet Suites for value. The staff has always been hospitable and helpful and the cleaning crews keep things spotless and even washed our dishes and pans every day! The location in Old Sultanahmet is very authentic, away from the path of the tourist crowds in a real Turkish neighborhood with lots of food options, and to our delight our room had a small view of the Marmara Sea even though it wasn't sold as seaview.
There are two considerations, neither of which is the fault of Sultanahmet Suites: 1) As with almost anyplace in central Istanbul, you will need to climb hills. Sultanahmet Suites is at the bottom of the hill not far from the sea and to get to the tram or historical sites, it's usually a climb. However, there is a taxi stand around the corner, and on the plus side it's always downhill when you're headed back! 2) The other issue is the morning prayer which can be quite early during the summer months. Again this is impossible to avoid in Istanbul. We've stayed in places where the prayers were broadcast on loudspeakers in four directions and by comparison, Sultanahmet Suites is not bad with only one mosque audible in the central Sultanahmet Suites location. Many tourists consider the prayers an amazing and enjoyable part of the culture but nevertheless it would be wise for anyone heading to Istanbul should pick up some industrial-strength earplugs before their trip.
The neighbourhood was very interesting - small local shops, not too touristy.
The website was extremely misleading. The size of the suites was far smaller than stated, and far less equipped than stated. We were disappointed when we arrived, and felt as if the hotel had promoted itself far beyond what it really is. More honesty on the website would be preferable, regarding both facilities and room size!
The room was very clean and new, location was very near to the site seeing places
was little bit far from the Metro station
Good location, main sites in walking distance. The beds were comfortable. Nice little shops and kebab places around the hotel. Kids playing ground 50 metres from entrance. Nice and helpful staff. They have 4 locations, I stayed in their Gold building, so it may be different in other locations.
The water is heated with gas, and for some reason the temperature is changing from ice cold to very hot -- hard to take shower and wash kids. There is a minaret across the street and each morning at 5 you hear VERY LOUD call to prayer. The kitchen equipment is very limited, though the manager took some extra plates after request. The street to reach hotel is very narrow, pay extra attention to cars, as you have to manage to move somehow to move between the traffic and street vendors.
Cleanliness, decoration of the rooms, helpful and friendly staff, close to many famous sites, quite location.
The manager, Kivanc Onutman (Joy) highly recomended Leyla Cecen from Mysia Turkey Travel Center to sell me a tour which I bought for 1.662.00 US dollars. During the tour I met some other Single travelers like me, who bought the same tour with the same hotels from different travel agencies and they paid 1.000.00 US dollars. I went myself to three different agencies and they quoted my tour for 1.000.00 US dollares offering an extra discount if I would take it. I complained to the hotel manager who had recomended her highly .I called Leyla Cecen and after treatening to inform the Turkish Tourist Office, the US Embassy , the Trip Advisor and the tourist forums ,she gave me a refund of 280.00 US dollars. I still feel cheated of 420 US dollars .
Upon arrival, I was given a 10 minute summary of the local area and how to get to different places of interest. Having the roof balcony was wonderful as you could sit there in the evening and enjoy the cool breeze from the ocean and relax after walking all day. The kitchen is basic, but sufficient, but does not really get a lot of use as there is so much good food available nearby. The location of the Suites is very good, within walking distance off many major attractions. For those who want more space than an evaerage hotel room this is very good value for the price.
It has very good proximity to the major attractions
The water is not hot enough. It was very hot and the air con was only blowing air out and not cooling the room down
We stayed in the Standard Suite at the Gold Building. The suite is fabulous, it was very neat, very well-maintained, spacious, clean and comfortable. Flat-wise, it was excellent for us! I probably have to say that it actually looked better than the pictures! The service was relatively good, they even did some helpful favors for us, and Mehmet, one of the guys at the Reception is our favorite, he is basically very responsive and nice. Would recommend this!
We expect a location that is a little closer to the main attractions of Sultan Ahmet (such as to Blue Mosque or Aya Sophia). Well, it is not far, a 10-15 minutes walking distance. But for lazy feet like me, I do expect a closer location for me to go and back, especially to save time. But this is totally not a problem if u enjoy more walk in the neighborhood. Other than location-wise, I would expect a more friendly price. But overally, this is a good apartment/hotel, especially if you're looking for a decent room :)
Don't go that hotel again. Room so small, and staff didn't care about you, very unpatient.
Suites size were good for my family and were well organized and clean.
They were not fair with me when I changed my travelling plan from 5th Nov. To 1st Nov, they gave me small suties first and then they gave me large suites. And they charged me the same price for both suites.
Excellent value for money. It is rather a fully fledged spacious appartment with kitchenette than a Hotel. The staff was extremely polite. The location is a bit difficult to find - somewere in the back, back streets, but very close to main attractions and tramstation.
Breakfast and/or coffee is totally overpriced - but this is common for all restaurants and bars around Sultanahmet
Nice private balcony
Panoramic sea view - are too great words for ships in the horizon
Die Lage. der Service. der Blick von der Terrasse auf das Marmarameer, die Ge- räumigkeit der Suite, das Duschbad. die bisher einzig funktionierenden Klimaan- geräte-
Die steile, enge Treppe, defekte Be- leuchtung on die obere Etage.
sehr zentral ruhig gelegenes Hotel. Nettes Personal.
